This web site was primarily authored using hand-coded HTML in emacs, with additional occassional GUI design using Macromedia Dreamweaver 4.0. Most scripting and interactivity is accomplished using PHP, with occassional use of Perl. Much of the content is generated dynamically from a MySQL database with a PHP interface. Most images were created with GIMP for Windows, plus the occassional use of Adobe PhotoShop.
emacs, GIMP, Perl, PHP, and MySQL are all open-source tools available free of charge under the GNU General Public License (GPL). In retrospect, it would have been better to use the also open-source PostgreSQL instead of MySQL.
The pulldown menus use the freely-available Menu3 (version 3.3.19) script by Andy Woolley of Milonic.Com. The script is listed as "Top Navigational Bar IV" at http://www.dynamicdrive.com. This free script is used under license from Andy Woolley.
