Personal Research Consultations - PeRCs

If you want in-depth help with a research project, contact a librarian for a PeRC.

PeRCs are one-hour appointments that may be useful in a number of situations.

For example:
• If you are having trouble finding good sources for a presentation or paper.
• If you have looked in a number of places and can't find much on your topic.
• If you don't understand how the library system works in some area.
• If you are just getting started on a project and have no idea how to proceed.

It is not necessary to use the whole hour; the consultation may be briefer or longer.The hour time frame is meant to ensure that the consultation is as thorough as you need it to be.

How do you request a PeRC?

You will need to communicate with the appropriate librarian to set up a meeting time. Look over the list of Librarians by Subject Area to determine who the right person is, and then either phone or email. You could also stop by the Reference Desk to set up an appointment.
