Folk remedies for headaches:
Teas:
- Powdered wild potato vine (Ipomoea pandurata)
- Passion-flower/Maypop (Passiflora incarnata) Large amounts of this plant may be harmful.
- Wintergreen/Teaberry (Gaultheria procumbens)
- Garlic (Allium sativum) Garlic may also be made into a syrup or tincture.
- False Lilly-of-the-Vally/Canada Mayflower (Maianthemum canadense) Do not confuse with Lilly-of-the-Valley (Convallaria majalis)-- Deadly!
- Lemon Balm/Melissa (Melissa officinalis)
- Mentha family (Peppermint, Spearmint, Wild Mint, White Horsemint, Hoary Mountain Mint, etc.)
- Catnip (Nepeta cataria)
- Mayweed/Dog Fennel (Anthemis cotula) Touching or ingesting my cause allergic reaction.
Poultices:
- Toothwort/Toothache Root/Pepper Root (Cardamine diphylla)
Other:
- Dwarf Ginseng (Panax trifolius) Root chewed for relief.

Headaches ( Tension Headaches )
- Many headaches are musculofascial in origin or at least have a musculofascial component. Manual massage of muscle "trigger points" is often beneficial. A list of common types of pain with their muscle source and "trigger point" can be found here.[1]
