Jump to: navigation, search

The Wittenberg Green Guide wiki is intended as a shared informational and educational resource for the Wittenberg Community. It includes general as well as locally-specific articles about ways we can reduce waste, energy use, consumption of natural resources.

The Green Guide is in wiki format so that all members of the community can contribute to it. We hope that all users will feel free to make positive contributions to the guide. As of its inception, anyone may create a login to edit the guide. If that privilege is abused, restrictions will be put in place. Users who repeatedly violate the content guidelines below will be banned from the site.

Content Guidelines

  • All content should be consistent with the goal of the Green Guide as articulated above. Off-topic content may be deleted.
  • Please site sources for factual information when possible. General lifestyle suggestions (e.g. "walk to class saves gas") do not need to be cited, but claims about effectiveness or impact should be sourced when possible. See MediaWiki's Meta-Wiki page on citation to see How Citation Works with this wiki software.
  • All content should be presented in an informational spirit. Some of the content is intended to be persuasive of a particular point of view (e.g., that we ought to make greater efforts to live more ecologically-friendly lives), but please avoid judgmental language.
  • Please keep the content civil. Personal attacks and/or displays of animosity (including, but not limited to, racist, sexist or homophobic language) will not be tolerated.

Conformance to Wittenberg University policies

Users should abide by the university's Technology Policies as well as to the University's other standards of conduct.

How to Edit the Guide

To edit a page in the Green Guide, click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the page, or at the beginning of a section of a page if you just want to edit that section.

Editing wiki text is pretty straight-forward. Please refer to Wikipedia's formatting cheatsheet to learn about the syntax of the wiki. (We mostly use the same software as Wikipedia, so much of what works there will work here. There are a few exceptions for particularly complicated things.)

It is advisable to preview your work (click the "show preview" button at the bottom of the editing page) before saving your changes (click the "save page" button at the bottom of the edit page.)
