Baking soda -- sodium bicarbonate -- aside from being good for cooking, neutralizes acids and bad odors.
- Pour baking soda down the drain followed by some vinegar instead of using harsh chemical substances to clean your sink. It is much less likely to corrode the metal.
- Put an open box wherever there is a persistent bad odor, like near a fridge or under a bathroom sink (or sprinkle it in your shoes). Change the box when the effect wears off.
- You can also wash your hair with baking soda and vinegar to make it soft and shiny.
- Baking soda is good for washing your face and brushing your teeth, just be sure to rinse with water afterwards because of its distinct smell.
- Put a very small amount in a tall glass of water for relief of indigestion.
